I loooooves me some sci fi.. and I thought I’d express my love for Cussing also.. by embracing Science Fiction that develops or extends upon Language.

Frack is more or less the word Fuck. I don’t recall any other words they may use but they really really like the Frack in the newish one..

Gorram = God Damn

And pretty much everything else is in Chinese like..

Yi Da Tuo Da Bian = A big pile of shit.

Go shi = Shit

Chwen = Dumbass

Star Wars has the word PooDoo, it’s Huttese, and means Shit, presumably Bantha Shit.

Red Dwarf had the word Smeg, which is like the Smurf of Cusswords..

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy listed the most horrific cuss word to ever be spoken is “Belgium”, also if you are a Vl’urg then saying “I seem to be having tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle” is so bad it can start a war.. with Death Floatilla.

So there.. I have to go do some Frelling work now before my Smegging Boss gets mad that I’m playing on the Frakking internet.

 

Kill Your Cable!

I recently looked at my cable bill and then looked at the amount of time I spend watching TV and decided it was just too expensive.

I had:

a Tivo, which cost me about $18 a month

Digital Cable with 2 movie channel packages which cost me about another $100 per month.

Interwebs which cost me about $45 a month.

I can’t live without internet. Sorry.. so it had to stay.. So I took inventory.. what do I watch?
I watch anime.. which you can’t really find on cable much anyhow.
I watch AOTS, but only the first part.. aaaand thats it.
Occasionally I’d watch random things.. but it was only out of boredom.

Soooo.. Goodbye cable..and subsequently, Tivo and  hello IPTV.

Since everything I wanna watch is already online.. I’ll just attach a decent PC to my TV and do it that way.. then have a wireless keyboard and mouse. I may also get a 9$ Netflix subscription which would allow me to stream something like 17,000 titles… which I think would be worth a try $9 is cheap you know?

Alternatively I could have also gotten both a Roku Player (for internet streaming) and an Asus O!Play which allows you to stream content from your Home Network. but I need more than both.. and in my case it’s only a couple of hundred more to build a PC.. I can do what I need with Linux anyhow.

Truth is.. I’m just going to be an early adopter on this.. i don’t mind ads in my TV, but I don’t need to pay a bazillion dollars a year for it. All communication even TV will eventually be over the internet… may as well start going that way now.

Getting Video from a PC to a TV.

devedeSo.. I have videos I want to move to a DVD.. some are downloaded some are from my Tivo.. in the past this was a Pain in the Arse to get done, and you had to use several programs to do it with.

I’ve recently started using a Program called DeVeDe for Linux, and let me say.. I’m in Heart with it.. I hear a program called DVDFlick also does somthing similar for Windows.. What it does is simple.. it makes DVD images for most video files, even weird ones.. like *.mkv’s.  It allows you to make DVD menus and in General it’s pretty simple and of course they are both Free..

If you’ve ever tried to do this on your own and you just wanted somthing that worked.. I’d suggest this as an alternative to converting.. and finding something to author the dvd with.
