In 1985, our beloved and reviled lord over all that is Apple, Steve Jobs.. was ousted from Apple.. and he went on to found another company called NeXT.  In 1988 they introduced the first NeXT Computer which ran a Unix OS called NeXTStep.

The Cube was released in 1990 was a Motorola 68040 processor which clocked in @ 25mhz.

The Cube is more famous than you know.. in 1990 Tim Berners-Lee ran the first ever web server from it.

In 1993 they stopped making hardware and instead focused on software, and in 1996 they were purchased by Apple.  Apple then used the NeXTStep OS as it’s foundation for Rhapsody which was the beginnings of OS X.
